About Our Founder
United Disaster Relief of Northern California (UDRNC) was founded by Danilla Sands in the wake of the devastating 2017 North Bay Wildfires after witnessing firsthand the overwhelming long-term challenges wildfire survivors faced once the initial emergency response ended. What began as a grassroots community effort grew into a volunteer-powered nonprofit disaster resource center focused on helping individuals and families rebuild their lives through compassionate advocacy, direct support, and long-term recovery assistance.
Danilla Sands has become a recognized voice in disaster recovery throughout Northern California and has been featured in podcasts, radio interviews, news articles, public speaking engagements, and community disaster discussions for her leadership and advocacy work supporting wildfire and disaster survivors. As a community leader and VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) member, Danilla has worked alongside volunteers, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, emergency responders, and local agencies to help bridge the gap between survivors and the resources they need during their most difficult times.
Under Danilla’s leadership, UDRNC has grown into a permanent Disaster Resource Center serving multiple Northern California counties through volunteer support, emergency supplies, advocacy services, community partnerships, and long-term disaster recovery programs. The organization continues to focus on transparency, compassion, dignity, and ensuring no disaster survivor is left behind.
